Well, I've decided to stop blogging for the Huffington Post.

After my latest column, in which I said Isaiah Washington should not have been fired from "Grey's Anatomy" for the use of a gay slur towards a colleague, I got a ton of comments, some of which were hurtful -- which is somewhat ironic, given the nature of the column. I decided I just don't have it in me. Apparently, my ego is more fragile than I had original anticipated.

Anyway, it was fun while it lasted. And I learned something new about myself: I don't take criticism well. You probably already knew that, though. :-)

Oh, but look at the bright side. That just means more time for me to blog here. See, there's a silver lining after all.

I just read your Huffington Post entry... Very well written.
I also read the first page of the comments... Wow!! Some people are just so weird...

I hadn't heard that he was fired... so I am not sure of all the details. But I am sure alot of it had to do with his "comment". I agree with your post... They should just move on and drop it.

Oh and I agree... they should drop the Izzy/George thing... enough already!!!! LOL

criticism is always hard to take...

When the fun stops... then it's time to stop doing it.

Exactly. Right now, it would not be fun for me. And I'd probably self-censor so as to try to appease everyone, so there's really no point. They asked me to reconsider, and I may at some point down the line, but right now ... naaaah. Thanks for the support! :-)

Maria,

I can understand where you're at. I have in the past commented on more conservative blogs, and sometimes the vitriol gets so much that I often simply do do it any more.

It's silly, isn't it? The whole point is to open up discussion. And the Huffington Post is a liberal blog, so I'd expect people to be more open to other opinions. I don't expect everyone to agree, but don't resort to name-calling. If someone thinks I'm wrong, they should explain it to me... Sigh.

no te arrugues...ESCRIBE!!!
